Affiliate Marketing Secrets

Winning Affiliate Marketing Strategies

Affiliate marketing is by far the fastest way to get started making money online. Affiliate marketing means that all you do is sendhits to someone else’s website, they handle the sales, support and billing, and you get a percentage of the sale price as your commission (usually 50% or more for digital products).

Here’s just a few benefits

  1. You can get started almost immediately because you don’t have to create a product, write the sales page, design the website, create marketing materials, or do support, billing and maintenance.
  2. There’s practically no investment of time on your part because you don’t have to do the customer support or deal with billing or technical issues.
  3. Your efforts are risk-free, because the product owner has already made sure the product sells. So if you send visitors you will get paid.

There’s no denying that these benefits make Affiliate marketing the best thing going!

OK, but it’s not all rosy…

After all your hard work of generating traffic to the sales page, you will never see any of those visitors again. Most of them will not buy on their first visit, which means you’re losing over 90% of the traffic right off the top. The 10% or less that make a purchase now belong to the product owner. She can sell them additional products, but you can never sell to them again.

How can you avoid this pitfall?

What you need to do is capture the contact info of your visitors before sending them to the product website. By getting their contact info, you can follow up increase your odds of making the sale by sending them back to the product owner’s website multiple times. And if you’re really on top of your game, you’ll then send to a content mini-site in between.

Here’s what these Affiliate marketing strategies will do for you:

  1. You’ll be building your own list of potential customers that you can market to again and again.
  2. By providing great content without a sales pitch, you put them in a buying mood. So when you do send them to the product website, they’re much more likely to buy.

In order to set a system like this up, you will need the following affiliate marketing tools:

  1. A Video Squeeze Page (with Video)
  2. Several high-quality content pages
  3. An email series with at least 5 high-quality content emails

The Video squeeze page is where you’ll direct your traffic instead of directly to the product sales page. This page is where you collect your visitors’ contact info and add them to your autoresponder, which in turn starts sending them the multi-part email series. Once your visitors have been subscribed to your email series, they are sent to your content pages.

These high-quality content pages provide value and build good will. This way your visitor is more likely to buy when they get to the product owner’s website. While they’re reading the content you’ve provided, your email system is already following up with them to send them back to the product website again and again.

Putting all of these pieces together will increase your sales by 500% or more, so it’s obviously worth the time and energy to do it. And after you get it all set up, it runs on total auto-pilot. You just refer people to your lead capture page, instead of the product sales page.

Setting it all up yourself requires some skill, and if you’re not up to it, you can use a service like Affiliate Silver Bullet. Services like this design the enter system (the Video, the Video squeeze page, the email series, the content pages, etc). On the plus side, you’ll save a ton of time and money vs. trying to build this yourself. Plus you can get started instantly. The downside is that other people will be using the same affiliate tools as you. But the internet is pretty big, so this isn’t much of a concern.

The other route you can take is to hire people on Elance to create and implement the various aspects for you. Either way, it’s an important step that you need to take if you’re going to be serious about your affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing: What Is It?

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make an extra income. Once you have everything all set up and ready to go, you can begin making an income from your efforts. Affiliate marketing is when someone else pays you a commission or a percentage of what you sell for them. For example, a coffee business may pay you 10% on all sales that you make for them. This is how it works:

When a business decides that they would like to have some help selling their product or service, they will then start an Affiliate program. When they do this, they are allowing others to sign up and sell their products or a particular service that they are offering. The ones that sign up to the Affiliate program have multiple ways that they can market the service or the product that we will get into later. However, the company that needs the help selling the product, will then give all of their Affiliates a unique ID number that they can use in their links, and so that the company can see who the sale came from when a sale is made from an Affiliate.

There are many different types of Affiliate marketing programs. There are those that offer one time commissions off of a sale. Some of them might offer lifetime commissions, and others may pay just for leads that you can get them. Whether it is for a newsletter lead, or something else. Just having interested parties sign up for things for more information is another one.

The type of Affiliate program that you choose to have is completely up to the person that is the owner of the business. They can decide the percentage, or flat rate that they are willing to pay for a sale or a lead. Then those interested can sign up and help them make sales and get leads for a certain amount of money.

Those signing up for Affiliate marketing, and different programs to sell for others, can do this many ways. They can promote the services or the products on a website that is relevant to the Affiliate programs that they are a part of. Or they can also promote them on a blog. Both of these are great ways to get traffic to your Affiliate programs and make sales from them. Some even use email and newsletter marketing as a way to get sales for others as well. Which ever technique and way that you decide to use is up to you.

Once you have chosen the Affiliate programs that you are wanting to market, you will then need to be sure to read all of the rules and stipulations for that program. Because all of them will be different. Some may not want their name used in the URL of your website, and some might also not want the particular product or service that you are selling for them used in the title tags for the page, or anywhere else on the page. Because of all of the different requirements and stipulations that you have to read, you may even need some software to help you sort it all out and decide which one is the best for you and your Affiliate marketing business.

Choosing the Affiliate marketing programs that you want to go with is not hard to do at all. Choose something that you know about, and that you can be known as an expert about. The more passionate you are about the service or product, the better, as it will shine through. Once you have all of your programs in place, check out SEO, and find out how to get your website up on the first page of the search engines. This is going to take hard work and determination, but you can do it.

Affiliate marketing is something that anyone can learn. Start out by reading a good ebook or blog by someone that is a pro for the best marketing tips and techniques that you can use. Learn from others that have done and accomplished what you are trying to do.

This is a free for all article. It’s free for the Affiliate marketer, its free for the website owner, its free for the seller of a product on the internet marketplace. Open 24 hours, all days of the week, unmindful of the national holidays, everywhere, and working all the time 365 days a year, and 366 days in leap years!

For all the four groups the advice is the same. Are you earning revenue or not? Are you selling your products or not, or are you simply doing website promotion , without making sales?

For the Affiliate marketer on the web, it is a simple question of getting PPCs done, and for the website owners it is much less, and for the product seller, it is zero.

Even for the other users of other tools for marketing, does their job end with putting up ads with various tools that are provided? Are they receiving a limited income, or recurring income? For the marketer of the website, how many hits are being made on the website, and how many are getting translated into a sale, and thereby revenue?

Mining the hits, and the sales generated against the amounts spent is the right way to find out what exactly you are doing. If in Affiliate marketing or other marketing of websites or products, you are getting recurring revenue, okay, you may be satisfied. But you can increase it manifold, if you were to get other methods of marketing also into your portfolio. Thereby, if one source of income dries up, or comes down, the others take over, evening out the odds of your having a reduced income.

In the case of website owners and sellers of products, what exactly are you achieving? Are you getting good hits on the website, and good sales? Is that enough? How many of your customers coming back? How many new customers? Do you have a system in your website which tries to find out from where the new customer was referred? Was it a Affiliate program or another reseller, or a satisfied customer?

These details need to be determined by statistical data of your website and the profiles of your customers. Just as in the local market place where you would know a customer by name or at least by face, on the internet, it is important to mine that information, and get additional leads on how, where and why that customer came to you.

The basics of marketing still remain the same. So it does not matter whether you are the marketer or the owner of the product or the website. You need to know hard facts about whether you are establishing only a brand image (the website) or you are selling your product (the brand). Notice that in the last word the word ‘image’ has been dispensed with. It’s the key to your success. If you are having a great number of hits on your site, but low volume turnover on your products, then there is something wrong. You are marketing your website only, and not your products. Therefore, you need a closer harder look at your landing page to see why those customers are looking up your website, but are not getting enthused into buying from you. What prevents them? Is it that the landing page (the sale area) is not easily located, or is it that the writes leading up to the landing is diffuse and confusing or plain boring? What is it?

You have to find out to maximize your revenue by website promotion , be you a marketer for another person, or the owner of website, or the seller of a product on the internet marketplace.

The rules of the game are still the same as in normal markets, apart from the internet. The only difference on the Internet is that you are against very heavy competition from around the globe, while in the local marketplace, you are probably competing against let’s say ten or a little more competitors.

Therefore you have to gear up and maximize your revenue, and not maximize the hits on your web page. That’s a losing proposition. The web page was meant to drive revenue for you, and if it is not, well is it worth it?

Affiliate Marketing Leads

Affiliate marketing leads are the result of a successful Affiliate marketing campaign.

Using these leads helps an Affiliate target a specific group of buyers and build a successful online business.

The only reason for becoming an Affiliate marketer is to sell products by promoting products and generating leads.

Simply asking a someone to visit your website do not appear to be working anymore. They want to know “What’s in it for me?” An Affiliate must give the person a real reason to click on the Affiliate‘s site.

There are a number of ways to use to generate Affiliate marketing leads. Here they are – - -

Opt-in Email Lists

What is Opt-in Email?

It is receiving permission to capture an email address to send information to the owner of the email.

How?

There are a few different ways to do this but by far the most popular way is by adding an opt in area on your site.?

Simply it is placing a box on the site landing page or home page offering the visitor something free. A free e-book or a free Internet Marketing course are good to offer the visitor in exchange for their name and email address. In the box, create a place for their name and a place for their email address. Below these two lines have a “click here” button that is linked to your autoresponder to capture their information and build your list.

Once they click on, they will be taken to to your website where they will be asked to verify that they are interested in your free what ever it is. By doing so, they are saying it is alright for you to capture my email address. This is called a double opt-in. Use this double opt-in method and you will not be accused of spam.

An important point, never spam this list. Only send information you believe is truly valuable to your lists or you may loss subscribers as quickly as you get them. Spam can also get you kicked off the merchant’s Affiliate program.

The autoresponder is usually managed by reputable companies such as Aweber or GetResponse. They are most likely the two most popular and are similar in every way when it comes to functions of list building.

What’s written in the preceeding Opt-in Email paragraph is a way to capture leads.

Here are ways to gather Affiliate Marketing Leads.

Article Marketing

Write 500 word individual articles about specific keywords that are the theme of your website. If your site is about multi-level marketing, create articles of interest about all aspects of multi-level marketing. At the bottom of but not part of the article, add your 3 or 4 line bio and include your website url. Never put the url in the article body. Article publishers will reject your article if you do. The url should direct visitors to the autoresponder to capture the email address.

Ezine Advertising

Advertising in an ezine is the most effective method of reaching the target market an Affiliate needs to drive targeted traffic to their website. Of course the ezine has to be ab out the theme of the Affiliate website. You wouldn’t place a dog training ad in a Affiliate marketing ezine. Find an ezine with around 20,000 subscribers. Place a 4 or 5 line classified ad in the ezine. To gain respect from the ezine publisher, pay for the ad. Be professional. You are building an image of yourself. Repeat the ad for several months. An Affiliate has to gain the trust of people before they will do business with the Affiliate.

Classified Ads

Free classified ads are usually a waste of time. Paid classifieds work better if they are written with a benefit for the customer or they are also a waste of time. As I said before, the most effective palce to use classified is in ezines and paid for. The free ads are always at the end of the ezine. people read the ezine because the topic of the ezine is of interest to them. To get their attention, the ad must appear near the top…readers seldom read thru the entire ezine looking for free ads.

RSS Feeds

Another way that over a period of time, will gather Affiliate marketing leads for an Affiliates site and that is though having an RSS Feed prominently listed on website at the top of the navigation sidebar or placed into the header section of the site. People are given the opportunity to subscribe to your site feed and every time a new post is written, the person will automatically receive notification via email just as if they were on your email lists.

Using Banner Advertisements

Displaying advertisements on frequently visited web pages, using attractive wording and pictures of the product you wish to sell or promote, grabbing the attention of the potential buyer, way to generate Affiliate marketing leads. This type of advertising is similar to classified ads. The purpose of the banner ad is to drive traffic to the Affiliates opt-in page to capture the lead.

Create A Blog

Blogs are easy to set up. On the blog page post an article or advertisement about the product you are selling. The url used can send the customer to the actual merchant site for a sale. This is generally used when the Affiliate wants quick cash and not hear from the customer again. OR, post the url that drives the customer to the opt-in site and capture a customer for life. Note: Treat this subscriber well, this is money in the bank.

Search Engines

Affiliate marketing leads are generated by using search engine optimization, commonly known as “SEO“. Actively promoting the Affiliate website for high placement in the search engines is essential. Always go the the search engine, Google, AOL, Yahoo, etc. and register the Affiliate website name and url.

This helps the search engines find the site quicker. The more ranking the website receives on a search engine, the more chance the Affiliate has of generating traffic to their website.?

The objective here is to bring traffic to the website to create sales on the website and generate more prospective leads. An Affiliate marketer needs knowledge and understanding about keywords. Remember, stay focused on what the customer’s whats and needs are, then simply place the appropriate keywords into your website content.

Creating Affiliate Marketing Leads is the key to Success.

Do you happen to be a webmaster that needs money for your website?  Well if you are a web publisher you’re going to need cash, Affiliate marketing may work for you.  With Affiliate marketing, you may get a lot of cash driving into your bank.  Furthermore if your website is rich in great contents, why not get into the Google Adsense program?

Why Affiliate Marketing?

Because Affiliate marketing is most likely the best way to earn profits online.  Even online retailers can gain from Affiliate marketing programs, Affiliate marketing actually works for merchants as well as it works for the Affiliates.

Simply said, is a liaison or agreement made between two websites, with one site being the merchant’s website and the other being the Affiliate‘s site.  The Affiliate agrees to let the merchant promote his products on the Affiliate‘s site, and the merchant, agree to pay the Affiliate in whatever scheme they have agreed into.  This would normally mean easy profits for the Affiliate, as he would do nothing but place the retailer’s ad on his site.  This would also be very favourable for the merchant, as getting Affiliates to advertise their goods would be a lot more affordable than hiring an advertising firm to promote their products.

There are a range of methods on how the merchant would compensate the Affiliate for his services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translates to the method by which he would earn easy money.  Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method.  The pay-per-click method is the method most favoured by Affiliates, for their site’s visitor would only have to visit the advertiser’s site for them to gain money.  The other two methods are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.

Getting takings on Affiliate marketing programs does not depend so much on the payment method it does on the traffic generated by your site.  A website that can catch the attention of more visitors would usually have the greater chance of profiting in Affiliate marketing programs.

Google Adsense.

Google Adsense is in fact some sort of an Affiliate marketing program.  In Google Adsense, Google act as the agent between the Affiliates and the merchants.  The merchant, or the advertiser, would sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products.  These ads, which are in fact a link to the advertiser’s website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the Affiliates, or by webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.

While one can find a lot of similarities between Google Adsense and other Affiliate marketing programs, you can also see a lot of differences.  In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest.  The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be related to the content of your site.  This would be helpful both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be interested with the products being advertised.

The Google Adsense program compensates the Affiliate in a pay-per-click basis.  The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this sum to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount.  Also, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the earnings you get from a certain ad.

Where do all of these lead us to?

To profits!  Affiliate marketing programs and the Google Adsense program plainly work, whether you are the merchant or the Affiliate.  For the merchant’s side, a lot of money can be saved if advertising effort is concentrated on Affiliate marketing rather than on dealing with advertising firms.  For the webmaster, you can easily gain a lot of profits just by doing what you do best, by creating websites.  And if you combine all your profits from both the Google Adsense program and other Affiliate marketing programs, it would certainly convert to a large amount of cash.
